Person centred values are about putting the individual at the heart of their care and support

Person centred values are about putting the individual at the heart of their care and support. It is about listening to and consulting the individual rather than just making decisions for, or assumptions about the individual. The individual should be central to the creation of their support plans so that the support they receive can be tailored to their needs and wishes. This promotes independence and choice as the individual will be a partner in the creation of their support plans. Where possible, talking to family and friends can help give a more complete picture of the individual and give an insight into their ethnic, cultural, religious and ethics.
Because person centred values and support are tailored to the individual they help the person feel valued, listened to and helps them to understand that you care. It promotes dignity and respect, the individual will feel respected and they in turn will have more respect for the careres.
