Plants secrete many types of secondary metabolite in which phytohormones

Plants secrete many types of secondary metabolite in which phytohormones, plays major role in plant growth and development. Auxin is a type of phytohormone synthesized from tryptophan through different biochemical pathways. Indole acetic acid (IAA) is one of the principle and first isolated auxin which has critical role in plant growth such as enhancement of root length and root hairs which is necessary for nutrient uptake (Woodward and Bartel, 2005; Pedraza et al., 2004; Datta and Basu, 2000). Synthesis of physiological active form of indole acetic acid (IAA) from L-tryptophan is one of the commonly found attributes in Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) (Lynch, 1985).
